Week 6 of Season 2 of the Quarantine Cup was a great night to be a part of the Warsaw Pact, as three separate teams representing the Quarantine Cup ran rampant on their NATO rivals, sweeping the first and second series and only letting the West get one by them on the final Search & Destroy on Checkmate.
In individual performances, Evade led the way as the seasoned veteran and tournament founder maintained a 1.75 K/D with 295 kills to 168 deaths, while also capturing 150 objectives. Domtage, returning after a week absence, finished right behind him with a 1.61 K/D with 291 kills to 181 deaths and bested Evade by one on objectives with 151. Yet, the Human Turret himself was bested on K/D by Ozicate, as the British teen sensation scored a 1.65 K/D on 285 kills to 173 deaths while capturing 145 objectives.
Deadlegs, who channeled his inner Michael Jordan before the evening by predicting that Week 6 would be his “flu game,” also put in a solid performance, having a 1.41 K/D with 273 kills to 193 deaths and capturing 110 objectives. iLLWill, who returned to the tournament after a week off, also put in an excellent performance, scoring a 1.60 K/D with 260 kills and 163 deaths, the lowest amount of deaths by anyone on the evening, while also capturing 116 objectives.
On the first series, the Warsaw Pact of iLLWill, Evade, deadlegs and Ozicate swept the NATO team of DirkyDirk, Domtage, QPD_Pookie and deploden. The Western outfit came out strong in the first mode, Domination on Crossroads, carrying a 89-81 lead into the half, but an all out assault was laid upon MI6 by Spetsnaz in the second half, giving them the 187-156 win.
That momentum carried over into Control on Raid, where Spetsnaz took the first two rounds before the CIA grabbed one back only to ultimately fall to their Communist rivals in the next round, 3-1. Evade and Ozicate truly shined for Spetsnaz in the round, with Evade getting 35 kills to 16 deaths and capturing 19 objectives while Ozicate killed 29 and was killed 20 times as he captured 14 objectives.
Things looked to be going starkly different on the last mode of Series 1, Search & Destroy on Garrison, as the West German BND went up 3-0 before the HVA, led by Ozicate with 10 kills and six deaths, put up six straight wins to take both the mode and the series itself.
On Series 2, while the Warsaw Pact roster switched up to consist of iLLWill, Domtage, Evade and deploden, they continued the success of their predecessors, again sweeping the NATO side, which consisted of QPD_Pookie, deadlegs, Ozicate and DirkyDirk. Domination on Raid was all Spetsnaz throughout, with the Eastern outfit expanding their 82-72 halftime lead to a dominant 184-138 victory, one which saw Evade again on top and the three other members of Spetsnaz all out score their CIA rivals with the exception of Ozicate.
The West had a better showing to start off in Control on Garrison, with the BND taking the first two rounds led largely by Ozicate, who finished the mode with 33 kills to 29 deaths and captured 27 objectives, but the East German HVA rallied to take three in a row for the 3-2 win, while Evade led the way with 34 kills to 21 deaths and 27 captured objectives.
Search & Destroy on Crossroads was nearly a repeat of the six straight comeback performance from the first series, but with MI6 as the comeback kids, as after Spetsnaz took the first three rounds they grabbed four in a row for the 4-3 advantage. However, Spetsnaz wouldn’t allow the West to best them as they came back with three straight wins, with deploden leading the way on 12 kills to seven deaths and two objectives captured for the 6-5 mode win and series sweep.
Series 3 was much of the same, with the new Warsaw Pact team of Ozicate, Domtage, iLLWill and deploden carrying on the cause against NATO, an all UMass alumni outfit which consisted of Evade, deadlegs, QPD_Pookie and DirkyDirk. Domination on Garrison was an even another dominant performance for the Communist bloc than Domination on Raid, as the HVA carried a big 102-67 halftime lead into a 189-143 HVA win, with Ozicate and iLLWill leading the way and all four HVA members outscoring their BND counterparts.
In Control on Moscow, Spetsnaz and the CIA split the first two rounds before the home team took three out of the last four for the 3-2 win. Ozicate and Domtage both packed quite the punch for the Soviets, with Ozicate scoring 40 kills and 27 deaths while capturing 24 objectives as Domtage killed 38 and suffered 27 deaths while capturing 25 objectives. Despite the loss, Evade put up a strong performance for the CIA, having 35 kills and 33 deaths will capturing 26 objectives, the most of any player on any team.
Evade carried that momentum over into Search & Destroy on Checkmate, giving the NATO allies their only mode win of the evening as they overcame a 2-0 round deficit to win six straight while The Founder led them with 10 kills and six deaths, though Series 3 still finished in a 2-1 win for the Warsaw Pact.
In the bonus round of Search & Destroy on Nuketown ‘84, the rosters stayed the same in what was one of the closest clashes of the evening, as Spetsnaz saw a 2-0 lead evaporate only to come back and win three in a row to make it 5-2 before the CIA went on their own three peat to draw it all even at 5-5. But, as they had nearly all evening, the Warsaw Pact found a way and took the final round for the 6-5 win, with Domtage leading the way on 13 kills and six deaths.
