It’s official: the Quarantine Cup is back.
Season 2 of the Quarantine Cup, the weekly Call of Duty gaming tournament hosted by BombsAwayGG, was announced Friday via an Instagram TV video posted to the tournament’s official page titled “Guess Who’s Back.”
Week 1 of the new season is set for Dec. 4 per the video.
The video featured a preview from Call of Duty: Civil War, the latest edition of the Call of Duty franchise, which will be replacing 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its Warzone counterpart for the new season. The preview, which was set to “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum, featured televised images of life in the United States and Soviet Union, with heavy military and governmental imagery, during the 1980s, including featuring both US President Ronald Reagan, who served as leader from 1981 to 1989 and Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev, who served as leader of the USSR from 1964 to 1992 (though the game itself more heavily features later Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev who led from 1985 to its fall in 1991) before being followed by the revealed image of the Quarantine Cup logo set to “Without Me” by Eminem as Season 2 and its Dec. 4 start date are revealed, along with encouraging people to “join the fight” by going to the tournament’s website, which has been completely redesigned for the new season.
As with last season, Domination, Search & Destroy and Control are the three modes of the tournament, and will utilize six of Cold War’s maps including Moscow, Cartel, Checkmate, Crossroads, Garrison and Miami.
A new feature for the season is the introduction of QC Points, which the tournament website describes as “a new currency that can be earned by participating in events and are used to rank players.”
For participating in an event, a player receiver 25 QC Points, while an elimination is worth a point, an objective two, a map win five and a series win 10 QC Points, which can redeemed at the end of each season in the upcoming QC Shop.
